This Adoption Policy explains how ChinaTAC (Together for Animals China) evaluates adoption requests and places rescued animals into safe, responsible, and permanent homes. Adoption is a long-term commitment. Our priority is always the welfare of the animal.
We aim to place each animal in a home that matches their temperament, health condition, and daily needs. We focus on long-term stability and safe living conditions. When necessary, we may recommend training, behavior support, or a different match to ensure the best outcome for both the animal and adopter.
Our core values: safety, responsibility, transparency, and lifelong commitment.
To protect animals and support successful adoptions, we generally require the following:
The adoption process may include an application form and a screening conversation. We may ask about your lifestyle, prior pet experience, home environment, and expectations. This is not meant to be difficult — it is to ensure the animal’s safety and reduce the chance of future surrender.
Submission of an application does not guarantee approval.
Every animal has unique needs. We may recommend a specific animal based on compatibility, including energy level, temperament, household type (children, seniors), and other pets at home. A meet-and-greet helps confirm a good match and allows questions about care and behavior.
We do our best to provide information regarding the animal’s known health status, vaccinations, sterilization, and any medical treatments performed. However, rescue animals may have unknown histories, and future health issues may arise.
Adoption-related fees or suggested donations (if applicable) help cover rescue costs such as food, shelter, medical care, vaccinations, and sterilization. These funds support ongoing rescue operations.
Adoption fees and donations are generally non-refundable once the adoption is finalized.
By adopting from ChinaTAC, you agree to provide humane care and a safe environment. This includes:
We encourage safe indoor living or protected outdoor arrangements appropriate to the animal. If the animal requires a specific environment (for example, quiet home, no stairs, no other animals), we will communicate those requirements during the matching process.
We may conduct post-adoption follow-ups to ensure the animal is adapting well. If you need advice on behavior, transition, or basic care, we encourage you to contact us. Early communication can prevent small issues from becoming serious problems.
If you are unable to keep the adopted animal, you must not abandon, sell, or transfer the animal without contacting ChinaTAC. We will work with you to determine the safest next steps, which may include return or assisted re-homing, depending on resources and circumstances.
ChinaTAC reserves the right to refuse or cancel an adoption if we believe the placement may not be in the best interest of the animal. This may include safety concerns, inability to provide suitable care, or inaccurate information provided during the application process.
We may update this Adoption Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
